Paper Description
This paper is delivered as two separate modules - on exploring the nature of organisational decision making, the other introducing supply chain management. While decision making is concerned with identifying the best course of action given various constraints, supply chain management is concerned with managing the process for delivering products and services to the customers of a business. The goal of the paper is to equip participants to be better decision makers and to appreciate the critical role of the supply chain in today's economy.
Decision making addresses how we make decisions naturally, what a decision process looks like, and how decisions are made in groups. Sound decision making requires a good understanding of our individual strengths and weaknesses and how best to work with others.
Supply chain processes of a business span from its suppliers, its own operations, and its customer facing entities such as warehousing and distribution. In this paper we take a holistic or systems perspective of these processes and discuss supply chain integration, types of supply chains and logistics.
Paper Structure
This paper will be facilitated by face-to-face sessions, supported by online resources.
